Golf course in the Lungau, next to St. Margarethen

From active to relaxed

On the water
Swimming, boating and kayaking: the Salzburgerland has over 180 clear lakes and rivers. Lake Millstatt is about 40 minutes’ drive away, with twelve lidos. Prefer a trendy hotspot? The SOL Beachclub in Velden am Wörthersee is an hour away.
Golf
The 18 and 9-hole golf course in St. Michael im Lungau borders St. Margarethen and lies at 1,050 metres, surrounded by mountains. You play in one of the sunniest spots in Austria, among ponds, white peaks and green slopes.
Hiking
Themed trails, nature paths and village walks offer something for young and old. Popular with families is the Leisnitz waterway trail, with stories and mosaics. Or walk through the woods from St. Margarethen to Pichlern. St. Margarethen is an ideal base for tours through the mountains and valleys of the Lungau.
Cycling along the Mur
The Mur cycle path is one of the most varied river cycle routes in the Alps: 457 km from the Hohe Tauern National Park to Bad Radkersburg. Most of it is downhill, and with some 70 stations along the way you can start wherever you like.
More of a challenge
Canyoning along the waterfalls of the Salzburgerland, with jumps of around 10 metres and swims through gorges: a guaranteed adrenaline rush. Or go higher with a tandem paragliding flight or a parachute jump.
Horse riding
Active, but with a little less risk: around St. Margarethen there is a network of more than 100 kilometres of bridleways through the mountains.
