Ski lift within walking distance
A surprising ski area linking the Aineck and the Tschaneck, two mountains on either side of the Katschberghöhe. The 6 km A1 run from the Aineck top station takes you down a wide piste all the way to Sankt Margarethen.

Mauterndorf / St. Michael

A mid-sized ski area a few kilometres from Sankt Margarethen. With plenty of blue and red runs it is ideal for families. Tip: board the gondola in Sankt Michael im Lungau and you are on the slopes in no time.

Obertauern

Snow-sure and popular: you can ski here from November to May. The black run below the Gamsleiten 2 is famous in Austria, and the Tauernrunde takes you on a full circuit around Obertauern.

Weißpriach

A single mountain with rolling runs winding down through the trees. Compact and therefore great for families, though experienced skiers will also find some fine black runs.
